Armed Illegal Israeli settlers in the West Bank taking over Palestinian land, both private and public, usually walk down from their settlements, located on hilltops, to harass farmers in the surrounding area to prevent them from tending their land, their only source of living. The settlers plan is to drive farmers out and expand the settlements.
These evil acts, endlessly recorded in videos from all over the West Bank, usually end in either the Israeli army intervening and declaring the area a closed military zone, preventing Palestinian farmers from tending their land, or in the Palestinian farmers leaving the area to prevent harm to their persons or families, which in either case would give the result desired by settlers. Defending yourself from a settler is miraculously turned into an attack against an israeli and is punishable by a harsh prison sentence and financial burdens the poor Palestinian farmer family would almost find it impossible to bear.
The video below claims it was released by an IDF "security" camera. It shows an armed Israeli settler, doing the usual deed described above, except this time the settler was confronted by a young Palestinian Farmer who was drawn into a trap and killed. The settler suddenly runs and as the young Palestinian farmer follows him closely -believing he has been been victorious in driving the illegal settler away from the farm- the Israeli settler simply turns around and shoots him in cold blood, making it appear as if he did it in self defense. However, the settlers attempt to act for the camera - settlers know exactly were it is placed and which areas it films due to their close ties to the army "protecting" their settlements - betrays him, notice the professionalism with which he turned around quickly and shot his victim, walked away fast and hurriedly ran and fled the scene of the crime.
The murder victim was Nineteen year-old Oday Maher Qadous from the village of Iraq Burin, south of Nablus, and was accompanied by his cousin (The third young man you see in the video) and the murder took place on January 27, 2011.
I normally let the videos speak for themselves, but this time i thought I better give you an introduction and explain some background to it since settlers are claiming the murder was in self defense. Now, you can see the video for yourself.

DCIPS — April 10, 2010 — On 13 July 2009, Jameel (16) and two electricians were to his home when they heard the sound of weapons being cocked and an Israeli soldier saying stop, you mother***r. The four Israeli soldiers verbally abused Jameel, took his ID and broke his mobile phone. Family members soon arrived as they had heard the bews. After several minutes the soldiers marched Jameel toward Ramat Yeshai settlement and told his mother and cousin that it was a closed area and they would be shot at if they followed them, after telling them moments before "go back you whores." At a checkpoint near the settlement. Jameel was blindfolded and had his hands tied with plastic cords. He was forced to stand near the checkpoint as 40-50 settlers threw stones and brutally beat him, including punching him in the neck, causing the boy extreme pain and nausea. They also verbally abused him calling him a son of a whore and a motherf***er. Soldiers also brutally beat him. His head was smashed into the ground knocking him unconscious. Jameels family witnessed some of the abuse and his father captured part of the incident on a camera given to him by BTselem. A BTselem fieldworker was also present. Eventually an officer cut the plastic ties and told Jameel that he could go. He walked away and then was ordered to stop. Grabbing Jameels chin, the officer said: "If you tell the Israeli police or the press or human rights organizations about what happened, I'll kill you or shoot you from a distance if I can't reach you." Jameel went to Ahlia hospital for medical treatment. After leaving the hospital he and his father went to file a complaint at the police station in Kiryat Arba settlement. They were told to come back the next day which they did. They met with an interrogator and signed a paper in Hebrew that allegedly contained what they had said. Following the attack, Jameel suffered from insomnia and feels scared and unsafe around his neighbourhood.

When Harris went to meet a friend near the Al Sahla checkpoint, he saw two middle-aged Palestinian American men whom soldiers had detained at the checkpoint for two hours. Harris tried to notify TIPH and then called the team, but by the time Schroeder arrived, the men had been released.

General Situation
Although CPTers observe fewer episodes of abuse at checkpoints than they had in some months, Israeli soldiers and border police perpetrated at least two serious incidents: a beating on 8 August and a shooting on 26 August. Israeli settlers encroached on land in the Beqa'a Valley. Settler sponsored tours continued regularly through the souq (market) on Saturday afternoons, even in the midst of Ramadan crowds. Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting and prayer began on August 22 and continued into the following month.
Networking
The team attended meetings of the Association of International Development Agencies working in the Occupied Territories (AIDA) (in Jerusalem on 3 August); of the Peace Teams Forum for international groups working in the West Bank (in Huwarra on 5 August); and of Palestinian, Israeli, and international nonviolent activists working in Al Khalil and Hebron District (on 18 August). The team visited Wi'am, a Palestinian conflict resolution center (in Bethlehem on 26 August). CPT was in contact with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine/Israeli (EAPPI) throughout the month and met with the groups on 25 August to coordinate school patrol duties and other street monitoring to begin in September.
School Patrols
School was in summer break throughout the month. On 18 August, Peters and Schroeder met with the principals of Qurtuba and Ibrahimi Schools to build stronger relationships with the schools in anticipation of the upcoming academic year.
Visits to Palestinian families
The team began to visit families in vulnerable areas of the Old City of Hebron and surrounding areas to familiarize them with the work of CPT and encourage them to call the team in case of soldier or settler harassment.
Saturday 1 August
Peters and Schroeder visited the Sameeh Dana family, whose home backs up to the Kiryat Arba settlement. The family faces challenges every day because of their proximity to the settlement.
Saturday 15 August
Schroeder visited a couple and their four children at their home in the Old City. The father is apparently unemployed and the family is very poor. Schroeder visited the family again on 19 August.
Saturday 22 August
Schroeder and Evans broke Ramadan fast with another family in the Old City. The household included a couple with two sons and two daughters in their late teens or early 20s, together with the married daughter's two little girls, about two and four years old. The married daughter's husband was in prison. The family had moved to this house, newly renovated by the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC), about three weeks earlier.
Wednesday 26 August
Schroeder and Evans broke the fast with another Old City family, a woman and her four children, ranging in age from about one to ten years. The father was absent, working in Israel. The home sits across the alley from the Israeli settlement of Avraham Avinu and the family has experienced frequent harassment from settlers, including shooting into their windows. Israeli soldiers have prohibited the family from putting glass in one of their windows. This house was also renovated by HRC.
Thursday 27 August
A Palestinian partner invited Peters to join him in breaking fast at the Glassblowers' Mosque. HRC sponsored Iftar (the breaking of the fast) in a different venue inside the Old City each evening as a sign of resistance to the occupation.
Saturday 29 August
Members of the team broke fast with women from the Women's Cooperative in the Old City and at the home they had visited on 22 August. Members of EAPPI and ISM also joined in.
Settler Activity
Saturday 1 August
Hayes and Schroeder walked along Shuhada St to the Chicken Gate, just outside the CPT apartment. As they arrived, at the mini-playground Israeli settlers had created there the previous week, they were confronted by two settler boys who said, "You have no right to be here. We will hit you with a stone and kill you."
Peters, Harris, and Sharp tailed the weekly tour of the Old City sponsored by the settler community. At the second stop, two boys on the tour darted away from tour group. Soldiers quickly apprehended one boy. At least two groups of Israeli soldiers ran into the Old City with their guns drawn. The tour eventually withdrew from the center of the souq. Half an hour later, Sharp saw soldiers leading missing boy out of Old City and taking him away in a car.
Monday 3 August
Peters, Schroeder, and Hayes attempted to visit families in Tel Rumeida in the early evening. Taking a back route, they passed through the yard of a settler family. Settler women chided and photographed the team members and tried to grab Schroeder's camera. Israeli soldiers directed the three CPTers past the house. Someone within the house threw an egg at Hayes from above, hitting her in the head. The soldiers called the police, who escorted the CPTers back down to the main road. Neither the soldiers nor the police took action against the settler who assaulted Hayes.
Friday 7 August
About 10:30 a.m., Harris, Peters, and Hayes responded to a call about settler activity on the land of Mohammed Mustafa Jaber, in the Beqa'a Valley. According to Jaber, Israeli soldiers arrived in a jeep about 3:00 a.m. and took some photos. The jeep returned about 6:00 a.m. and waited at the junction of the village road and Highway 60. Forty or fifty settlers arrived between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., accompanied by about twenty Israeli soldiers in six or seven jeeps. Settlers planted about sixty tree seedlings, each about seventy-five cm in height, on one of the family's garden terraces, sixty meters directly above the family home. The police and soldiers protected the settlers, and prevented the family from talking to them. The settlers left about 11:00 a.m. The civil administration (Israeli military) police told the Jaber family that the settlers should not be planting trees there. The family had just finished uprooting the trees from their land when CPT arrived. CPT observed the last three Israeli police leaving at that time. The family said settlers had done the same thing the previous Friday.
Saturday 8 August
Following a settler-sponsored tour in the Old City, two Jewish visitors were talking with Israeli soldiers at Al Sahla* gate, near the Ibrahimi Mosque. Nearby Palestinian shopkeepers described how one had removed his kipah (head covering) and put it in his pocket and started to walk up into the souq (market). The soldiers stopped him.
Sunday 9 August
Evans and Schroeder, with four members of Michigan Peace Team, walked up "Worshippers Way" to a synagogue outpost that had been set up by settlers about two years ago. As the group stood in front of the outpost opposite Kiryat Arba settlement, an Israeli military jeep pulled up and soldiers questioned the team's purpose there.
Tuesday 11 August
At about 11:45 a.m., Harris and two members of ISM responded again to a call about settler activity in Beqa'a Valley on Mohammed Mustafa Jaber's land. When the team arrived, residents of the Beqa'a informed them that four settlers had come and picnicked on the same land where settlers had planted trees the previous two Fridays. Ten Israeli soldiers had accompanied the four settlers.
Wednesday 12 August
CPTers observed some 150 French Jewish visitors waving Israeli flags, shouting, and processing in front of the Palestinian shops near Al Sahla checkpoint. A group of six to eight pro-Palestinian French people were visiting in the same shops. The two groups began shouting at each other. One leader and one soldier kept the groups separated.
Friday 14 August
Hayes and Schroeder with members of ISM traveled to the Beqa'a Valley where there had been settler tree-plantings on the two previous Fridays. During the several hours they spent on the land of Mustafa Jaber and other families in the Beqa'a, no settlers appeared.
Monday 17 August
A Palestinian shopkeeper was engaged in intense conversation with Israeli Border Police when Schroeder and Peters neared Al Sahla gate on midday patrol. The man explained to the team that loud music was played every day from the nearby Gutnick Center (the settler community center) from 6:30 am until 12:00 midnight. His complaints were to no avail.
Wednesday 19 August
Hayes and Schroeder discovered the Qasaba* Gate locked during morning patrol and saw five Israeli army jeeps by the Qitoun* checkpoint. Palestinian neighbors reported that Jewish holy days were beginning, but the Israeli authorities had not notified them as they had on previous years. Soldiers told members of the Israeli observer group Machsom Watch that this was the first day of the Jewish Holy Month ending with Rosh Hashanah. Large numbers of pilgrims arrived by bus for the day. Later they paraded down Shuhada Street with loud jubilant music.
Saturday 22 August
Schroeder, Evans, and Peters observed the settler tour from 4:40 to 6:10 pm. On this first day of Ramadan, the Old City was full of Palestinian men coming from prayers and shopping for Iftar. TIPH (Temporary International Presence in Hebron), ISM, and EAPPI as well as CPT accompanied the tour, which eight Israeli soldiers also escorted. The soldiers were polite as they held a path open for Palestinians who were making their way through the crowd of people on the tour. The guide spoke first in Hebrew and then in English. Schroeder asked the tour guide, "Have you told the people here that the Jews and Muslims all lived peacefully here in this city at one time?" He said in response, "There is no such person as a Palestinian. That was a name made up in the 15th century."
Thursday 27 August
A Palestinian partner of the team, who is member of the HRC, had seen a photograph of a large new water tank two days earlier near the Avraham Avinu settlement; he was afraid that indicated settlers were about to occupy another building. Peters and Schroeder photographed the area, but the photos showed no evidence of the new tank at this time.
Saturday 29 August
The weekly settler tour entered an abandoned house off the souq. Settlers had regularly invaded this house during previous Saturday tours, even when there was still an elderly Palestinian couple living there. The weekly tour of twenty-thirty visitors was again escorted by Israeli soldiers and observed by CPT, EAPPI, ISM, and TIPH. The Ramadan crowds were not as large as last week.
Soldier and Border Police Activity
Thursday 6 August
Schroeder and Peters responded to a call about a detention at the Al Sahla* checkpoint about 4:00 p.m. By the time they arrived, soldiers had released the fourteen-year-old Palestinian boy, but he was in tears after thirty minutes of detention and harassment.
Saturday 8 August
When Evans and Schroeder approached the Al Sahla checkpoint around 5:00 p.m., they saw a Border Policeman running by the checkpoint barriers. Moments later a young Palestinian boy was crying out in pain, sitting by the barrier. The young sweets seller had been beaten on the back and neck by the Border Policeman. Israeli wrote a report about the incident and called the Army captain, who also responded.

Wednesday 12 August
About 12:30 p.m., Peters and Schroeder observed a young Palestinian man standing with arms up and hands against the wall near Qitoun checkpoint. An Israeli soldier twisted one of his arms behind his back while patting down that side of the boy's body, then the other side. The soldiers released the boy after the search.
Tuesday 25 August
A Palestinian partner from the HRC and a man from the Land Research Center in Jerusalem, stopped at the CPT apartment mid-morning. They were investigating a story that had appeared in the press about the demolition of a three-story building in Al Kayal, the old produce market in the Old City. Schroeder and Evans walked to the area to document the situation, but saw no evidence of demolition.
Tuesday 25 August
Peters spoke with a family of three American Jews who had come through the Old City but were then refused entry back through the Al Sahla gate. The mother was quite upset, arguing with one soldier. When she pointed out that Peters could enter, the soldier looked at Peters and said, "You are Christian, yes."
Wednesday 26 August
About 11:00 am, the team received a call from ISM that there had been a shooting at the Tel Rumeida (Duboyya Street) checkpoint. Making their way to the scene, Schroeder, Peters, and Evans found the Qasaba Gate closed and exited the souq through gate 4/5. After soldiers prevented their going up Shuhada Street, the team went through the Palestinian cemetery and through terraced orchards to get to Tel Rumeida. ISM called about 11:20 to say the victim was being removed. Soldiers stopped the CPTers shortly before the Tel Rumeida checkpoint. TIPH and an ISM member arrived by about 11:35. The ISM member said she heard soldiers telling TIPH that a Palestinian man went through the checkpoint; when soldiers called to him and he did not stop, he reportedly pulled a knife, and two soldiers responded by firing shots, reportedly hitting him in the leg and chest. (CPT members later heard from Palestinians in the souq that the man had died; these reports subsequently proved to be false.)
Thursday 27 August
Peters and Evans watched soldiers who had stopped a man briefly at the Al Rajabi checkpoint about 9:25 a.m. The CPTers asked one of the soldiers if he had any information on the shooting the previous day. The soldier said the victim was in the hospital. A TIPH member later confirmed that the man was in stable condition in the hospital.
Friday 28 August
Peters and Schroeder observed intense Israeli military security presence near the Old City about 9:00 a.m., particularly near the Qitoun checkpoint. Hundreds of people attended the Ibrahimi Mosque for prayers. During Fridays in Ramadan, the entire building is open to Muslims and closed to Jews.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) strongly condemns a combined attack perpetrated by Israeli settlers and Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), against Palestinian civilians in the Kherbat Safa area, northwest of Hebron. This pre-planned attack resulted in the injury of nine Palestinian civilians. Six civilians were injured by IOF, while three were injured by settlers.
PCHR's investigations indicate that at 06:10 a.m. on Wednesday, 8 April 2009, approximately 50 settlers from the Gush Etzion and Beit Ayen settlements gathered on the outskirts of Kherbat Safa. They were accompanied by approximately 10 IOF soldiers.
At approximately 08:00 a.m., the settlers – armed with pistols and machine guns – opened fired directly at Palestinian civilians and houses. The settlers and soldiers then advanced towards the houses, firing their weapons and tear gas. The Palestinian civilians responded with stones, in an attempt to prevent the attackers from entering the houses. Soldiers and settlers shot directly at Palestinian civilians, at distances ranging from 2 to 20 metres. The attack lasted for approximately 90 minutes, without interruption.
As a result, nine civilians were wounded by live and rubber bullets. Local witnesses report that three of the wounded were injured by settlers while the others were wounded by IOF soldiers. 26 Palestinians also suffered suffocation due to gas inhalation. The wounded were transferred to Hebron Ahli Hospital and to Hebron Governmental Hospital. Medical sources described the wounds of one civilian as serious. The names of the wounded persons are included in PCHR's Weakly Report published today, 8 April 2009.
PCHR reiterates its condemnation of this joint attack by Israeli settlers and IOF soldiers against Palestinian civilians in Kherbat Safa, and warns of the potential for increasing settler attacks against Palestinian civilians under the current Israeli government.
PCHR also:
- Demands that IOF cease the practice of protecting and granting immunity to settlers. This policy encourages crimes against Palestinian civilians;
- Demands the immediate confiscation of settlers' weapons. As demonstrated, these weapons pose a serious risk to the lives of Palestinian civilians.
- Calls upon the international community to intervene immediately in order to ensure the State of Israel's compliance with international law. All settlements are illegal. Settlement activities must be halted.
- Reminds the international community that settlements are considered war crimes. Accordingly, all High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions must, individually or collectively, fulfil their obligations under common Article 1 to the Conventions, and take the steps necessary to ensure Israel's compliance with international humanitarian law.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) strongly condemns a combined attack perpetrated by Israeli settlers and Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), against Palestinian civilians in the Kherbat Safa area, northwest of Hebron. This pre-planned attack resulted in the injury of nine Palestinian civilians. Six civilians were injured by IOF, while three were injured by settlers.
PCHR's investigations indicate that at 06:10 a.m. on Wednesday, 8 April 2009, approximately 50 settlers from the Gush Etzion and Beit Ayen settlements gathered on the outskirts of Kherbat Safa. They were accompanied by approximately 10 IOF soldiers.
At approximately 08:00 a.m., the settlers – armed with pistols and machine guns – opened fired directly at Palestinian civilians and houses. The settlers and soldiers then advanced towards the houses, firing their weapons and tear gas. The Palestinian civilians responded with stones, in an attempt to prevent the attackers from entering the houses. Soldiers and settlers shot directly at Palestinian civilians, at distances ranging from 2 to 20 metres. The attack lasted for approximately 90 minutes, without interruption.
As a result, nine civilians were wounded by live and rubber bullets. Local witnesses report that three of the wounded were injured by settlers while the others were wounded by IOF soldiers. 26 Palestinians also suffered suffocation due to gas inhalation. The wounded were transferred to Hebron Ahli Hospital and to Hebron Governmental Hospital. Medical sources described the wounds of one civilian as serious. The names of the wounded persons are included in PCHR's Weakly Report published today, 8 April 2009.
PCHR reiterates its condemnation of this joint attack by Israeli settlers and IOF soldiers against Palestinian civilians in Kherbat Safa, and warns of the potential for increasing settler attacks against Palestinian civilians under the current Israeli government.
PCHR also:
- Demands that IOF cease the practice of protecting and granting immunity to settlers. This policy encourages crimes against Palestinian civilians;
- Demands the immediate confiscation of settlers' weapons. As demonstrated, these weapons pose a serious risk to the lives of Palestinian civilians.
- Calls upon the international community to intervene immediately in order to ensure the State of Israel's compliance with international law. All settlements are illegal. Settlement activities must be halted.
- Reminds the international community that settlements are considered war crimes. Accordingly, all High Contracting Parties to the Geneva Conventions must, individually or collectively, fulfil their obligations under common Article 1 to the Conventions, and take the steps necessary to ensure Israel's compliance with international humanitarian law.

"The village of Burin is located close to two Israeli settlements: Har Bracha and Izhar. The settlers from these settlements often pester the people living in Burin. The fields of the village are set on fire, most likely by settlers, and the army does not let the fire brigade cars get to these fields for fear of settler violence."
Or is it for fear of the settlers violence? I doubt it is. Israeli army has been known to support and collaborate with such violence.

The Israeli military today evicted around 50-60 Jewish settlers from a Palestinian home in Hebron dubbed “The House of Contention,” which they have occupied since 2007. Subsequently, severe clashes erupted between settlers and security forces.
As of 16 November 2008, the Israeli High Court ruled that the settlers are free to leave the house voluntarily within the next 72 hours. However, if the settlers were unwilling to leave of their own accord, it was determined that they would be removed by force. What happened during the past two weeks, and especially during the past two days, was that settlers from outside of Hebron have been gathering to support the nine families living inside the house. The support of additional settlers was done in order to prevent the families’ eviction.
At around 4:00 p.m. today, soldiers arrived to begin removing checkpoints from around the building. Upon arriving, they were confronted by approximately 250 protestors that began to clash with the soldiers. Meanwhile, the main junction near the entrance to Hebron was barricaded by settlers to stop Palestinians from entering the city.
Ahmed Jaradat of the Alternative Information Center reported that some of the settlers began fighting with the soldiers whilst others attacked neighboring Palestinian homes, preventing Palestinian families from entering their homes or crossing streets.
So far, no weapons have been used by the settlers against the Israeli military. It has been reported, however, that the settlers have been assaults Palestinians with rocks. According to sources on the ground, the settlers have bee mainly attacking Palestinians. Moreover, Israeli soldiers have only been intervening intermittently to stop attacks against the Palestinians. According to Jaradat, soldiers also opened fire on Palestinians who started defending themselves against the settlers.
Up to the present, at least 10 Palestinian cars have been attacked and damaged. Houses are being stoned and damaged as well. Settlers have vowed to continue clashing with the military and Palestinians tonight and tomorrow.

Settlers have continued to protest against the November 2008 decision of the Israeli Supreme Court, ordering the eviction of nine settler families from the al-Rajabi family home in Hebron.
And tensions brewing in Hebron over the last two weeks have now spread to other parts of the West Bank.
Ahmad Jaradat of the Alternative Information Center reported that on 1 December, settlers attacked the Wadi al-Hussein neighborhood of Hebron. They came in the evening with dogs and stoned the houses, leading the dogs in front of the house windows in order to frighten the inhabitants.
According to Jaradat, Palestinian residents of the area are under daily attacks from extreme right-wing settlers, who generally begin their attacks in the evening hours.
The house in question, known as “Beit HaShalom (peace house) by the Israeli settlers, it is owned by the al-Rajabi family and has, since 2007, been occupied by settlers. The court-mandated date for the eviction order expired two weeks ago, yet the settlers continue to occupy the home as the Israeli military and police were afraid of violent clashes. This is also the reason why the military refuses to provide notice of when an evacuation operation may begin. Although the military is thus attempting to deny the settlers time to prepare, it is estimated that an evacuation operation would require a relatively large force that could be seen from a distance.
On 1 December, the right-wing activists occupying the al-Rajabi family home called on supporters to prepare for a 48 hour siege, while revealing the synagogue they have created in the building. In addition, the settlers claimed they are planning to open a religious seminary that will host thousands of pupils and their teachers.
During the night of 1 December, rumors spread that the Israeli military were ready to carry out the state order and evacuate the settlers from the al-Rajabi home. Using text-messaging, the settlers spread the message that “the eviction force has reached Beit HaShalom.” According to the settlers, police and border police forces were streaming towards the center of Hebron and so the settlers assumed that the evacuation would take place Monday night.
1,500 right-wing activists arrived in Hebron throughout Monday night and Tuesday morning, leading to a spike in settler violence in the city. Palestinian houses and cars were damaged and like two weeks ago, an Islamic cemetery was vandalized. Right-wing youth started to bloc various transportations routes, in order to prevent the Israeli military and police from reaching Hebron. The extreme right-wing activists and local Palestinians started to throw stones and clashes emerged. Since yesterday evening and this morning, dozen Palestinians were injured, including at least three minors.
In other places in the West Bank, Israeli settlers also blocked roads and threw stones at Palestinian cars. Clashes occurred between right-wing activists and Israeli military forces near the West Bank village of Hawara, south of Nablus. Eleven right-wing activists were detained for allegedly attacking Border Guard officers. Two of the detained were minors.
The spokesperson for the Jewish community in Hebron said to the Israeli news portal Ynet, that what has been seen up to now, with the last week of riots and clashes, is just a soft version of what will happen if the eviction order is carried out (Ynet, 2 December).
Still, Defense Minister Ehud Barak is trying to avoid violence and clashes between the settlers and Israeli security forces. In recent days Barak has been meeting with the settlers in order to create a dialogue and convince them to evacuate voluntarily. Barak stresses, however, that if this does not happen, they will be forcefully evicted.
All in all, at least twenty Palestinian and eighteen Israeli security personnel and settlers have been injured during the last two days of violent incidents. And in response to the settlers’ actions, the Israeli Military has declared the area surrounding the disputed house as a close military zone. Israeli border police have taken control over the area and Israeli civilians are not allowed to enter Palestinian neighborhoods in the area. Despite these actions, extreme right-wing activists have continued to set Palestinian houses on fire.

Tensions in Hebron have grown significantly since elapse of the 16 November Israeli High Court deadline for evacuation of Jewish settlers from the al-Rajabi family home in the city.
Last week, clashes between settlers and Israeli police and soldiers occurred after the date for the evacuation expired. According to Israeli military, however, a decision was made to delay the evacuation due to fear of an increase in violent clashes with the settlers.
On 18 November, the day following the clashes, Defense Minister Ehud Barak instructed the Israeli police and military to submit a plan for evacuation in the coming days. Earlier Barak stress, that if the settlers would not vacate voluntary, then the state would have to use force.
In response to this, over this weekend, more than a thousand Jews arrived to Hebron to celebrate a Jewish festival commemorating the death of the biblical matriarch, Sarah. After this celebration, a few hundred right-wing extremists remained in Hebron to prepare for what they foresee as a coming “nasty struggle with Israeli security forces.” Their purpose is to prevent the Israeli military from evacuating the families now living illegally in the al-Rajabi family house.
In solidarity with the Hebron settlers, forty-nine Israeli parliamentarians demanded on Monday, 24 November, that the Israeli military refrain from evacuation, until after the upcoming national elections in Israel, scheduled for February of next year.
On Tuesday, 25 November, right-wing activists planned a march from Jerusalem to Hebron in order to demonstrate solidarity and help those fighting the evacuation. The plan was to arrive in Hebron Wednesday and on the way to attract more supports to join the march. In Hebron they will remain until the security forces arrive to evacuate them.
On the evening of 25 November, approximately forty teenage settlers rampaged through Palestinian neighborhoods of Hebron, slashing car tires, smashing windows and painting the star of David on walls. None of the settlers were arrested.

Tensions in Hebron have grown significantly since elapse of the 16 November Israeli High Court deadline for evacuation of Jewish settlers from the al-Rajabi family home in the city.
Last week, clashes between settlers and Israeli police and soldiers occurred after the date for the evacuation expired. According to Israeli military, however, a decision was made to delay the evacuation due to fear of an increase in violent clashes with the settlers.
On 18 November, the day following the clashes, Defense Minister Ehud Barak instructed the Israeli police and military to submit a plan for evacuation in the coming days. Earlier Barak stress, that if the settlers would not vacate voluntary, then the state would have to use force.
In response to this, over this weekend, more than a thousand Jews arrived to Hebron to celebrate a Jewish festival commemorating the death of the biblical matriarch, Sarah. After this celebration, a few hundred right-wing extremists remained in Hebron to prepare for what they foresee as a coming “nasty struggle with Israeli security forces.” Their purpose is to prevent the Israeli military from evacuating the families now living illegally in the al-Rajabi family house.
In solidarity with the Hebron settlers, forty-nine Israeli parliamentarians demanded on Monday, 24 November, that the Israeli military refrain from evacuation, until after the upcoming national elections in Israel, scheduled for February of next year.
On Tuesday, 25 November, right-wing activists planned a march from Jerusalem to Hebron in order to demonstrate solidarity and help those fighting the evacuation. The plan was to arrive in Hebron Wednesday and on the way to attract more supports to join the march. In Hebron they will remain until the security forces arrive to evacuate them.
On the evening of 25 November, approximately forty teenage settlers rampaged through Palestinian neighborhoods of Hebron, slashing car tires, smashing windows and painting the star of David on walls. None of the settlers were arrested.
