"In this small workshop in Nusirat refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, this lady broke the traditional taboo in the Palestinian society in the besieged Gaza.
Using electrical machines and tools to make wooden items, the creative mother enjoys her job, working in silence to shape unique artistic works.
40-year old Amal Abu Raqeeq is Gaza's first and only female carpenter, her hobby has become a profession through which she earns a living.
It is said that necessity is the mother of invention but in Gaza necessity is the mother of creativity.
Amal holds an exhibition each year to showcase her wooden products, she is undeterred by the difficulties she encounters during this hard job.
She started her career at Tamkeen association, which gives technical and vocational training for Palestinian women.
The Israeli blockade by land, air and sea has left over 45 percent of the workforce without the job and large number of people have been forced to rely on aid assistance to feed their families.
However, the majority of people in need like Amal refuse to give up and do hard jobs to support their families.
