"Palestinian medical sources in Gaza have warned of an imminent health crisis due to lack of medicines, according to the health ministry 180 essential medications and 160 medical items have run out, this will endanger the lives of 100's of patients especially those who suffer from chronic dieses, the officials put some of the blame on the PA for failing to deliver Gaza's monthly share. The Gaza strip and the West Bank are separated geographically by Israeli military checkpoints, and no shipment of medicines and goods can reach Gaza without Israel's supervision.

The severe shortage will further deteriorate the health sector which already has been suffering due to shortage of fuel needed to run electrical generators, most of Gaza hospitals rely on huge generators due to frequent power cuts

Officials stressed on the necessity to find a solution to the root of the problem which started 5 years ago when Israel imposed its siege. The ongoing blockade restricts the delivery of non-food items, including fuel, medicines and construction materials needed to refurbish hospitals and build new facilities.

Restrictions on the movement of people and denying patients permits to seek advanced medical attention abroad has led to the death of over 350 patients so far.

On several occasions, health officials have called on the international community to pressure Israel to put an end to its illegal siege which has had a sever negative impact on Gaza's population
