"Palestinian resistance groups in the Gaza Strip have gone on full alert, as Israeli army has escalated attacks against Palestinians in Gaza over the past few weeks, reports say.

Smaller armed Palestinian groups such as the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the Hamas movement, have stated that they do not want an escalation, unless Israel launches a new offensive.

The Palestinian groups are undergoing intensive training sessions in preparation for a new Israeli attack on Gaza, replication of combat situations, launching of rockets and mortar shells, among other military activities, a Press TV correspondent reported.

Qassam officials have agreed to release exclusive footage of their recent military training to Press TV.

Last week the Hamas government received warnings from Cairo that Israel may be planning a new offensive against Gaza. Palestinian resistance groups are on high security alert as Israel forces have intensified shelling of mainly agricultural areas across the Gaza border, wounding and killing Palestinians farmers.

Over Hamas' request, the Qassam Brigades have reiterated their commitment to preserving the rocket fire truce saying they do not want to give Israel an excuse to wage a new war against the territory.

In a show of unity, all groups have complied with the Hamas government's call for restraint.

Israel's 22-day deadly war codenamed 'Operation Cast Lead' on the impoverished and densely-populated territory of Gaza Strip at the turn of 2009 killed at least 1,400 people and wounded thousands of others.
