It's good to see the 1956 massacre being commemorated and covered by media. Less than two weeks later a second massacre took place in Rafah, this time over 100 people were killed. Joe Sacco covered these both in his extraordinary 2009 graphic novel "Footnotes In Gaza". A January 2010 radio interview with Sacco where he talks about researching the book, well worth a listen:

Some of those he interviewed during research couldn't see why he was interested in 1956 when things were so bad in Gaza that very day (this was during the 2nd Intifada). But I think it is essential. Palestinian history has been buried for many years under a mountain of Israeli propaganda – so a process of recovery is taking place. A truer history of Palestine/Israel is emerging at last.
