"A delegation of European parliamentarians is in Gaza to assess the humanitarian and political situation under the ongoing Israeli 5-year land and sea blockade.

The high profile officials mainly from Britain arrived in Gaza on Sunday via the Rafah crossing for a 3-day visit.
Some of the MP's who came to Gaza before said that one of their main priorities while in Gaza was to see firsthand the water crisis in the costal enclave.
Local officials say that visits by such delegations will help raise awareness about the plight of people under the ongoing siege.
Approved water and sanitation projects like this one installed in central Gaza strip by Costal Municipality Water Utility, are also being delayed due to the lack of construction material and spare parts.
The visiting delegation has met with UN officials, local authorities, women's groups, NGO's as well as the Palestinian legislative council where they were met by their counterparts from Hamas bloc.
Experts said there are no economic improvements on the ground as Israel restricts the import of capital goods and severely restricts the movement of people and blocks all exports. The so-called `easing' of the blockade in June 2010 has made almost no difference in the lives of real people.
