"A day after President Obama's Middle East speech, protesters gathered outside the White House in opposition to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit.

Protesters expressed their disappointment with Obama's Middle East speech on Thursday, emphasizing the need for the U.S. to take a balanced approach to the Palestine-Israel conflict.

Yet many treated the speech as a step in the right direction toward Palestinian statehood and U.S. support.

A handful of counter protesters also showed their support for Netanyahu and his U.S. allies.

President Obama is also scheduled to speak at the American Israeli Political Action Committee's convention this weekend.

The outrage and disappointment expressed by protesters here will carry on into the weekend where a summit will take place countering the annual AIPAC conference and will tackle the issue of the United States 'special' relationship with Israel.
