"Hundreds of Gazan orphans attended a celebration marking Orphan Day.

To draw the smile on orphan faces who were deprived from love and sympathy a series of entertainment activities were organized for them.
Officials from the Amal Orphanage say that the orphans of Gaza Strip are different from all other orphans due to their bad conditions because of the blockade and the last Israeli war which resulted in hundreds more orphans.

During the war hundreds of innocent men and women were killed which has only exacerbated the number of orphans living in Gaza.

Widowed mothers struggling in order to secure their family's basic needs had also attended the celebration.

In addition to the trauma of losing one or both parents all orphans suffer, those in Gaza face the additional distress and difficulty of an uncertain future.
Gazans orphans had the chance to play and enjoy life like other children at least for one day.

According to the latest statistics on orphans in Gaza, there were about 53,000 orphans in Gaza; children who have lost both, one of their parents prior to the 22 day war.

An estimated 1900 Gazan children lost parents in the Israeli 22 day assault as well.
On this day, Palestinians from all walks of life called for the Israeli leaders to be brought to justice for the suffering they have inflicted on the children of Gaza.
