"The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees “UNRWA” is facing sharp criticism from Palestinians for the Agency's intention to teach students attending its UN-run schools the Holocaust subject as part of the human rights curriculum.

We tried to get more clarification on this matter but UNRWA officials refused to comment on this.

Many here say that, UNRWA's plan to teach the holocaust subject as part of its so-called “human rights curriculum” will help Israel justify its occupation of Palestinian lands.
For its part, the ministry of education in Gaza said that it will not allow UNRWA to exceed its humanitarian mandate. The ministry also said it considers this as an intervention in internal Palestinian affairs.

The refugee affairs committee of the Hamas movement condemned this move describing UNRWA's role as biased because with this move the international agency (UNRWA) is ignoring decades of Palestinian suffering and massacres perpetrated at the hands of Israel.

Palestinian political factions have said that the latest move contradicts the nature of its humanitarian services to the Palestinian refugees, and warned that this move would enforce the culture of normalization between Palestinian and Israeli students.

UNRWA provides humanitarian services to over 1 million Palestinian refugees in Gaza and about 200,000 students attend UN-run schools in the costal territory.
