"In an Israeli court, Dirar Abu Sisi, a Palestinian engineer announced that he has been abducted by Israeli secret service operative on a baseless accusation.

Earlier Dirar's family as well as Human Rights groups had accused Israel of abducting him about 40 days ago. Abu Sisi went missing on a train traveling from Kharkov to Kiev on February 19 and later it was revealed that he was held in Israeli custody in Ashkelon.

The German weekly, Der Spiegel, claimed that the engineer, who worked at Gaza's central power plant, had information about the captive Israeli soldier Gilad Schalit.

Relatives of Abu Sisi, deny that he is an activist. They also deny claims that he has information about the abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.

Abu Sisi's attorney said that this courts session was a reprimand hearing and that the state prosecutor will press charges next week.

In an interview with Israel Radio, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said that Abu Sisi has useful information about Hamas which justifies the arrest, even if it does not concern Shalit,

PA envoy in Ukraine has described the abduction of Dirar Abu Sisi as s a 'terrible act of piracy', and urged Ukrainian authorities to put pressure on Israel to ensure his safe return to Ukraine.

Analysts say, the abduction of Dirar Abu Sisi may very well be a pressure tactic employed by Israel on Hamas in order to bring about the release of Gilad Shalit. Foreign media reports have implied that the abduction of Abu sisi is motivated by the assumption that he has information on the whereabouts of Shalit, however, Abu sisi says he has been interrogated about other issues, not about Shalit.
