UN calls for war crime investigation

UN calls for war crime investigation:

"The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has said Israel's actions in Gaza should be investigated as possible war crimes.

Spokesman Chris Gunness told the BBC that two children, aged five and seven, were killed when Israeli tank fire hit a UN school where hundreds had taken shelter in the northern town of Beit Lahiya."

Is Israel set for an imminent truce?:

"Israel's security cabinet is meeting to vote on a unilateral ceasefire, as the UN calls for a war crimes probe after two boys dies in Gaza.

The cabinet meeting follows the Israeli government's three-week offensive in Gaza - with an announcement from Prime Minister Ehud Olmert expected tonight.

But earlier today a UN school in Gaza was hit by an Israeli shell, killing two boys - prompting the UN Relief and Works Agency to call for an investigation into possible war crimes.

An agreement has not been reached with Hamas, which says it will not accept a truce unless Israeli troops leave Gaza and border crossings are re-opened."
