"Tension has been rising in the Gaza Strip, after 4 days of Israeli air strikes and tank fire.

The corpse of a young man who was killed in an Israeli aerial attack on a tunnel between Rafah and Egypt was discovered on Saturday by rescue teams.

Tunnels are used by Gazans to bring in badly needed supplies.

Israeli forces say they were responding to Hamas rocket fire from Hamas.
The democratically elected Hamas government, however, denied such allegations saying that Israel is only making excuses to attack the blockaded territory.

Rights groups condemned the latest Israeli aggression and called on the international community to provide protection for Gaza's population of over 1.5 million residents.

The surge in attacks over the last week has prompted fears of a would-be war on Gaza which is still recovering from a devastating 22-day war back in late 2008.

Israel attacked Gaza for four days in a row defying int'l calls to end the violence while at the same time it maintains a sea land and air blockade on the coastal sliver.
