Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) -- Violent clashes swept through Silwan village, East Jerusalem today following the weekly public prayer held in al-Bustan protest tent. Confrontations were sparked by an amassing of Israeli troops at the entrance to Silwan, who then moved through the village towards the protest tent. Israeli forces used tear gas and rubber bullets. The violence has resulted in the injury of a number of Palestinians due to tear gas inhalation. A Palestinian cameraman was injured also by a rubber bullet.

Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) -- Clashes between the Israeli forces and Palestinian youth resumed this evening in the Baten el Hawa and the Bustan districts of Silwan. Four Palestinians were injured by rubber bullets fired by Israeli forces who used also tear gas and sound bombs during the clashes.

A 10 year old child was seized by Israeli forces from the streets of Silwan this afternoon. Mahmoud Abbasi was arrested by Israeli soldiers from a street bordering al-Bustan and Wadi Hilweh neighborhoods of Silwan and was then transferred to the City of David settlement compound at Wadi Hilweh main street entrance to Silwan.

Confrontations erupted between Palestinian residents and Israeli troops when residents tried to find out the reason for the young boy’s arrest. Abbasi has now been transferred to police custody and is being held at the police station.

Israeli troops are using expired tear gas against Palestinians in East Jerusalem in current and recent clashes, Silwanic can reveal. Silwanic recently obtained a tear gas grenade that had been fired at Palestinian residents, finding that the gas compound had expired almost 5 years ago. The use of expired tear gas has been warned against by doctors, who say that tear gas when expired turns toxic, and far more dangerous to humans and other organisms.

The Israeli use of expired tear gas is not a new phenomenon, despite coming under repeated criticism from doctors and international institutions. Israeli tear gas cannisters, which are primarily supplied to the Israeli military by New Jersey-based Combined Systems Incorporated, are frequently fired on Palestinians past its date of expiration.

اندلعت اليوم بعد صلاة الجمعة في خيمة اعتصام سلوان، اندلعت مواجهات بين قوات الاحتلال والشبان المقدسين على مفرق وادي الربابة، وقام الشبان بإغلاق الطريق بالحجارة و بإطارات السيارات التي أضرموا فيها النيران احتجاجا على الوضع الراهن والتهديد بإخلاء المزيد من البيوت، وقامت قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلية بإطلاق قنابل الغار والرصاص المطاطي على المتظاهرين، مما أدى إلى إصابة الصحفي حمزة نعاجي في ظهره -- الذي يعمل في شركة بالميديا- ، ومواطن آخر في كتفه، عدا العشرات من المصلين الذين أصيبوا بالاختناق بالغاز، ولم تكتفي القوات بهذا القدر بل قاموا بالهجوم المطبق على الشبان والأطفال، مما أدى إلى اعتقال الطفل محمود العباسي الذي يبلغ من العمر 10 سنوات من حي سلوان، وقال شهود عيان، أنه أثناء بكاء الطفل عباس خلال اعتقاله المفاجئ حاول احد المواطنين في حي وادي حلوه الاستفسار عنه، مما أدى إلى تعارك بالأيدي بين المواطنين وقوات الاحتلال.


وفي لقاع مع خطيب الجمعة في خيمة الاعتصام الأستاذ عماد الزغل قال: نستنكر الاعتداءات على المواطنين الأبرياء العزل في بيوتهم وإن ما يحصل اليوم هو عبارة عن تهجير ممنهج للسكان والأهالي في سلوان وإن كل الأعراف والقوانين الدولية تقر لهم العيش بأمان.
وأضاف إن حقوق الأطفال حقوق مكفولة ولا يجوز الاعتداء عليها ولا يجوز اعتقالهم أو محاكمتهم بغض النظر عن إذا ما كانوا يحملوا حجارة أم لا، ونوه الزغل في كلامه إلى أنه الاحتلال اعتقل في الفترة الأخيرة أعداد كبيرة من الأطفال
