Murder in Gaza - Ahmed abu hashish, 18 y.o. - Israel continues its murderous campaign

"Ahmed Abu Hashih (18) disappeared from his family in the eastern Beit Hanoun region on April 21st. His family believed that he had been killed somewhere in the north-eastern border region, the Israeli-imposed 'buffer zone' where Israeli soldiers routinely shoot at Palestinian farmers and residents. Since then, his parents and others have searched, unsuccessfully, for his body, fearing the worst.

On June 14th his family, along with members of The Local Initiative from Beit Hanoun, and volunteers from the International Solidarity Movement - Gaza Strip went to the border region east of Beit Hanoun to search for Abu Hashish's body. A local shepherd had reported a strong smell like that of a corpse, believing it may have been the missing teen.

While searching for Abu Hashih, the group came under Israeli army fire, from IOF soldiers in jeeps along the Green Line. When they located his body, the Israeli shooting became more intense and was accompanied by at least two sound grenades.

During the recovery of the murdered teen's body, the ISM continued to communicate via bullhorn to the Israeli soldiers shooting at them that everyone was unarmed, that they were searching for a body and would leave after locating it.

As the grace of life is denied Palestinians, so too is the grace of burial often denied them."

Four residents wounded by Israeli fire in southern Gaza

Four Palestinian residents were reportedly injured early on Sunday after Israeli warplanes rocketed the Albarazil neighborhood in the southern Gaza Strip city of Rafah.

Medical sources said that the Abu Yousef Alnajjar hospital received four injuries from the border area of Rafah after midnight.

Witnesses confirmed that the Israeli shelling targeted a number of underground tunnels, used by Palestinians to bring in food supplies and commodities from nearby Egypt. Israel claims the tunnels are used by Hamas to smuggle weapons into Gaza.

In the meantime, a roadside bomb was reportedly exploded on the border area in central Gaza Strip, mainly in the Alqarrara village.

Witnesses said that several Israeli armored vehicles , backed by two helicopters, traded fire in the area with a group of resistance fighters. No further details were reported.

In a related development, Israeli media sources reported that a Palestinian homemade shell was fired yesterday night towards the southern Israeli desert region of Alnaqab, with no causalities reported.

Such developments come as Israeli authorities announced partial reopening of two Gaza crossings out of 6 others to allow some goods shipments into Gaza.

Israel has been enforcing a hermetic closure on Gaza since the Islamist Hamas party wrestled control over the territory in June2007.
