The family of detainee Raed Abu Hammad, from Al Ezariyya town in east Jerusalem, demanded a full investigation into the death of their son who died last Friday at an Israeli detention facility.

Following his death, Israel moved the body to a forensic center in Tel Aviv but, so far, did not release the findings.

His family said that he was not sick and that he was an athlete and a Karate trainer holding a black belt.

The family demanded a thorough investigation to reveal the real causes of his death.
The Arabs48 news website reported that Hammad was buried on Sunday, and that thousands of Palestinians, including Minister of Detainees, Isa Qaraqe’, participated in the funeral.

They chanted slogans against the ongoing Israeli violations against the detainees, and the illegal Israeli polices of torture in addition to depriving the detainees from their rights to receive proper medical care.

Hammad was kidnapped by the Israeli army on February, 26, 2004, and was accused of stabbing an Israeli soldier. He was sentenced to 10 years and additional 5 years on parole.
